Kay Toinette Oslin’s career in the country music spotlight was comparatively brief, but the years 1988 and 1989 belonged to her on the music awards show caravan. Beginning with her 1988 Grammy for “80’s Ladies” and ending at the ’89 Academy of Country Music ceremony, where she walked away with the “Top Female Vocalist” trophy, Oslin won a total of eight awards between the ACM, the Country Music Association and the Grammys.
At the ’89 ACM awards, K. T. Oslin’s second album, “This Woman,” took “Album of the Year” honors. She loosely formatted the release as a concept album, deriving its flavor from “80’s Ladies.”
