The Possum – George Jones
George Jones earned his nickname early on thanks to the shape of his nose and facial features being compared to a possum. While he didn’t love it at first, the legendary country artist made peace with the moniker throughout the course of his life and career. In fact, Jones came to embrace his nickname so much that he named his Nashville bar Possum Holler, and his 1999 live album of hits bears the name Live With the Possum.
