Country music legend Gene Watson has cancelled an upcoming local show due to health reasons. Watson was scheduled to play Honky Tonk Texas in Silsbee on Saturday, December 4th. However, word came that Watson wouldn’t be able to appear.
Watson tweeted on Tuesday Nov 23 “I want to send my heartfelt thanks to all my fans for standing by me this year as I’ve been battling a heavy dose of bronchitis these last few months.”

The 78-year-old Palestine, Texas native had only one number 1 hit, “14 Carat Mind” in 1982, but he had a string of twenty-one top 10 songs from 1975 to 1989.
