Willie Nelson’s Performance With Waylon Jennings Is One of The Night’s Many Highlights

As the song went on – with each of the country legends contributing on the guitar and vocals – the energy continued building up and turned into a rowdy jam.

“Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line” was one of Waylon Jennings songs written by country music guitarist Jimmy Bryant. It was released in 1968 as the second single off Jennings’ album, Only the Greatest. The classic country ballad then reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, holding that spot for five weeks and spending a total of eighteen remarkable weeks. In 1969, Linda Ronstadt recorded a gender-reversed version, which became a staple of her setlists at her concerts.
