After the enormous success of that record, the two men were so fired up that they wrote and wrote, nearly every day. So many songs came out of their writing sessions that they don’t specifically remember some of them, including “’Til You’re Gone.”
Always the innovator, producer Tom Collins brought in saxophonist Ron Eades to beef up the recording of “’Til You’re Gone,” and he was featured prominently on the track. Three weeks after Barbara Mandrell’s network TV show ended, “’Til You’re Gone” became her fifth number one single on Billboard’s country chart on July 17, 1982.
