Although this tribute happened two years ago, it means so much more now that Loretta Lynn has passed away. Lynn’s family announced her death on October 4, saying she passed away in her sleep at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

“Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home at her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.” The family of Loretta Lynn.
Tributes began to pour in from just about every country singer, who told stories of meeting Loretta and even about their friendship over the years. One of our favorite stories came from Carrie Underwood.
She said, “The first time I met Loretta Lynn was at the Grand Ole Opry at the beginning of my career. I was chatting in the corner with another artist and someone walked behind me and smacked me on the rear end! I turned around and there she was…in a big sparkly dress…laughing as she continued to walk down the hall at what she had just done…”
Tributes started being posted on social media, and one account had us remembering about Underwood’s tribute to Loretta at the 2020 ACM Awards. She performed “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” as well as several other country classics through the years.
We’re sure Loretta loved Carrie’s tribute, which means so much more now that Loretta is gone. Watch the full tribute below.
