Grand Ole Opry sets Merle Haggard tribute night for April

Music from Merle Haggard returns next month to the Grand Ole Opry when the long-running Nashville radio program hosts a night in tribute to the late outlaw legend.

Texas hitmaker Cody Johnson, ACM Awards’ reigning New Female Artist of the Year Lainey Wilson lead a lineup to “Opry Salutes Merle Haggard” that includes planned performances from Suzy Bogguss, Joe Nichols, Eli Paperboy Reed and Haggard’s son, Marty Haggard.

This one-night show takes place April 6 at the Grand Ole Opry House, coinciding with the anniversary of Haggard’s birth in 1937 and death in 2016. Tickets are on sale via opry.com.

Ticketbuyers can expect to hear cuts from Haggard’s famed songbook, as well as original numbers inspired by his legacy, per a news release.

Those unable to make the show can expect to catch highlights later this spring on “Opry Live,” a broadcast rearing on country lifestyle network Circle. The show airs live via WSM radio at wsmonline.com or 650 AM airwaves in Middle Tennessee.
