Loretta Lynn’s Road To Becoming One Of The Institution’s Most Admired Legends
On October 15, 1960, Loretta Lynn – who was then a young wife with four children – got onstage at the Grand Ole Opry for the first time, eight months after signing a recording contract and cutting her first songs.
Lynn once admitted that she was so nervous during her first Opry performance that she doesn’t remember much of it but patting her foot. Still, she made such an impressive and memorable performance that Grand Ole Opry asked her to appear in the subsequent shows, setting the record by appearing at seventeen consecutive shows.
In September 1962, Lynn was officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry – which she said was the greatest moment of her life. “It’s a moment you only feel once in your life,” she said. Since then, Lynn has turned out to be one of the Opry’s most admired legends.
